Disney HQ in Orlando

ORLANDO, FLORIDA

Simple and bold graphics was created for the signage for ‘Team Disney,’  the Orlando corporate headquarters for Disney’s operations. Because Arata Isozaki’s architecture was an explosion of color and form, all the interior signage was done only in black and white, a reference to the original spirit of Walt Disney’s early cartoons of Mickey Mouse. Two giant ‘Mickey’ ears are at the entrance of the campus and mimic the architectural geometry in plan of the entrance to the building. The cylindrical core of the building was designed as the world’s larger sundial. TTD provided an explanation to accurately tell time, using the sun’s shadows on the buildings’s interior wall markings. Various quotations about time’s ethereal nature were etched in black granite in the circular pavers in the central sun dial courtyard.
